Tips for supplying project information

Supplying as much information and detailed instructions as you can minimizes any guesswork on our part. Also, it will help us deliver the project you expect accurately and on time. Questions and requests for additional or missing information by us can adversely affect our ability to deliver on time and completely so don’t hold back and give us the details!

Here are some useful tips and suggestions for project notes based on our experience coding thousands of pages:

  • Notes should be included to address unique coding requirements (if any) for each PSD or PNG file that’s to be converted into templates.
  • Navigation Elements: Menus and links
    • Menus
      • Specify text or images
      • For text, specify font style and size
      • For images, ensure the artwork included for all menu states (roll-over, drop-down, etc) and width of drop-downs
    • Links
      • Specify text or images
      • For text, specify style for both normal and hover states i.e. underlined or bold
  • Background colors and images: sometimes these are subtle and specific styles or desired behaviors not readily apparent. Please call out any specific detail i.e. gradients, patterns or if it should expand or contract with varying content.
  • Flash: include all flash elements with project if possible. If not, indicate if a flash placeholder is needed and specify exact size height and width pixel dimensions and location.
  • Sections: areas of the page designed for specific features, functionality or content
    • Fixed or variable size (does it need to expand with content?)
    • Text and images: indicate if they need to be editable or not.
  • Coding style: specify XHTML 1.0 Strict, XHTML 1.0 Transitional or XHTML 1.0 Frameset
  • Forms: include artwork for custom forms.
